Summary

The Bier working group session covered updates on the status of various drafts, including one moving to AUTH48 and several needing shepherds or addressing AD comments. Two new drafts were presented: "Beer Multicast as a Service" which introduced mechanisms for supporting customer Beer in provider VPNs, and a "Beer Extension Header" proposal aiming for a generic, multi-protocol extension header. A third presentation on "BIFT ID Signaling for BRTE" discussed how to signal BRTE-specific BIFT IDs in IGPs. A significant portion of the session was dedicated to a broader discussion on the challenges of Beer deployment, the "chicken and egg" problem regarding hardware support, and the need for more interoperable implementations and visible success stories.
